Antique Silver Art Nouveau Large Photo Frame

This wonderful photograph frame is so evocative of the Art Nouveau movement and comes from one of the less widely known silversmiths Williams (Birmingham). It has certainly provided good service since manufacture over 110 years ago and required considerable work to bring it back to anything like its former glory. So, after thoroughly checking the overall structure, consolidating the basics and making good some defects; we have not only renewed the velvet and replaced the careworn silk on the easel stand, but also relined the backplate in a hand dyed blue silk and velvet to match. The metalwork remains largely good, but has a split or two, some dinks and a few polished through holes. However, it retains its striking appearance, is very serviceable and should last another lifetime.
