Item Details
We are very fortunate to be able to present a rare; silver mounted conical decanter, we beleive designed by Dr Christopher Dresser and produced by Heath & Middleton in Birmingham in 1906.
Hukin & Heath silversmiths were established in 1855 in Birmingham by Jonathan Wilson Hukin and John Thomas Heath.
It wasn’t until 1875 when the firm registered its mark in the Birmingham Assay Office. In 1881 Jonathan Wilson Hukin retired, 5 years later, John Hartstone Middleton joined as a new partner.
By 1900, they were generating and producing goods in electro plated nickel silver (EPNS) as well as silver. They also were trading in; coins, precious metals, stones, leather goods and bullion.
In 1904 the firm was converted into a limited liability company. Alas, the firm went out of business in 1953.
