Item Details
This delightful lidded engagement, proposal or wedding ring box is a Dutch [800 grade silver] box that dates from the late 19th - early 20th century.
The lid portrays a typical Dutch scene of a couple courting in in a rural setting. The sides are decorated with scrolls, acanthus leaves and flowers, yet another typical decoration used in Dutch silver for almost 300 years.
The interior is fitted with a removable ring cushion to reveal a glorious gilt interior, whilst the underside of the box bears the 800 grade silver stamp alongside the less legible Dutch; date, maker and location marks.
