Item Details
This delightful silver easel photo frame is finished in turquoise velvet & a heart shaped window. It was assayed in Chester in 1899 and was made by the respected silversmiths James Deakin & Sons.
As with many of our antiques this one was 'rescued' in a parlous state at a regional sale and has been lovingly restored and awaits another home for the next hundred years.
It has been re-clothed in an uplifting and colourful turquoise velvet and complimentary pure (slub) silk.
In order to maintain the Assay, the silver remains totally original and as a consequence there are high-points where a hundred years of over zealous polishing has meant some small holes exist.
Personally, we believe this doesn't detract from either the function or aesthetic of the frame, yet it does bear witness to its long life and the love that was given to it.
For those new to our shop, please be aware we often 'save' items of silver from being consigned to the scrap heap or worse...sent to the smelter.
One of our aims is to save items of beauty and worth; restore, repair or repurpose and find a new home for them.
So please, if you can re-home one of our saved gems; give us a try or if you have an item you'd like us to save, please contact us and we will work with you to help save more 'gems in the rough!
