Item Details
Romantic Great War, three Legged 'oyster Shape' silver trinket Box ...bears the delightful inscription "To Dollie from an old friend 'Toujours a toi' Jack Tomb May 1917".
This fantastic little box, combined with it's inscription, exemplifies the wish of many that '...if only this item could tell the stories it had seen'
It is presented in original condition with the the 1915 silk just a little marked, but all the more desirable as a result.
Given to 'Dollie' by 'Jack Tomb', this gift likely bore witness to the the very last year of the Great War, and my guess is secretly anybody that reads this really wants to know whether they lived their post war lives together....aaaah!
Alas we will probably never know, but it is a delightful thought that someone out there is a descendant of Dollie and Jack and will let us know!
