Antique Silver Snuff Box from the Inimitable George Unite

Here we have a gorgeous hallmarked silver; gilt interior, snuff box from the famous George Unite. Despite it's diminutive size, I am advised that it is perfectly capable of servicing the needs of all but the most ardent snuff takers of the late Victorian era. Ideal for; a gentleman's waistcoat pocket, a ladies purse or even concealment under a hat of choice, snuff boxes of this size were also to be found in many a hiding place including muffs, gloves, belts, gaiters, etc. This example is beautifully finished and allegedly ones of a similar style we also pressed into service as a; ladies pill box or for beauty spots, etc. These days it could be used for the concealment of a ring, prior to a proposal being made, and/or for a ring bearer at a marriage.
