This beautiful Arts and Crafts planished antique silver photograph frame is hallmarked for Birmingham 1905 although unfortunately it is impossible to read the makers mark. It is designed to hold a photograph sized up to approximately 10cm wide x 15cm high with the front window exposing a maximum image of 9.5cm wide by 14cm high. The wooden frame and silver work are indicative of early 20th-century craftsmanship and design. There is an applied oval with a much rubbed inscription that could say Raie.

Condition IconCondition
This lovely frame is in good antique condition, with the usual dinks showing its age and pedigree. It has a barely legible engraving to the silver egg shape applied to the top rail and a pin piercing the silver to left of that. Unfortunately the makers mark is virtually illegible and appears mis-struck, the hallmarks of Lion Passant, B'ham Assay and the year letter marks are clearly legible. A new rear plate silk panel has been applied to the back plate, and it has replacement glass. The wooden easel has been reattached in a different place in the past and you can see there has been a split in the wooden back, however despite that, it has the charm of a much loved hand made piece.
