Item Details
This rectangular hallmarked silver box [previously a silver cigarette box] by the renowned silversmith William Adams was likely to follow many similar objects to the smelter or to a silversmith as a source of ‘sheet silver’ for repairs and patches. After consolidating the structure of the box, we have relined the interior with velvet and embroidered silk in autumn tones, and now present it as a cuff-link box that could have another full and useful life, capable of seeing in the New Year’s Day of the 22nd Century.

The box is largely in good condition and is made all the more useful (and purposeful) with the addition of the silk and velvet interior fitment. It does however bear a few dinks from a life of service extending to over seventy years, prior to our refresh.
