Silver Brooch After Charles Rennie Mackintosh

Ref: P23 - 102
Sold
This hallmarked silver brooch from the highly respected, but sadly short lived silversmiths at Carrick Jewellery Glasgow is a design after Charles Rennie Mackintosh and reflects some of the influences he drew upon. Celtic artists from Scotland left a legacy which has endured for thousands of years. They were a highly developed culture with strong roots and developed artistic styles, which endure to this day. The Celtic knot is the most iconic, but the complexity of design and craftsmanship can be seen from; manuscripts to stone inscriptions, to the most beautiful of jewellery. Production at Carrick Jewellery Glasgow was overseen by craftsmen and women who took great pride in producing pieces of distinction. They also had a design team scouring ancient texts for inspiration which they reflected their designs. This delightful brooch is just one of their carefully crafted pieces and is, unlike some of their less expensive pieces, solid silver assayed in Edinburgh.
