Item Details
For sale is this cased, hallmarked silver Egg-Cup & Spoon christening set from the respected silversmiths of Deakin & Francis.
Made in Birmingham in 1946 it is a lovely uncomplicated design favoured by post-war Britain and reflecting the air of austerity that pervaded the country.
The egg-cup could also be considered as a candidate for a small solid silver 'trophy' for a golfing tournament or similar
The Spoon and Egg-Cup each bear the hallmarks; 'D&F' in two conjoined circular enclosures, the Birmingham Anchor mark, Lion Passant and the date-letter 'W' for 1946.

Condition of the spoon and egg-cup is largely good with little other than light surface scratches commensurate with age. However, there is a long standing deformation of the foot which is shown in the photographs. Whilst visible it neither affects the egg-cup's stability, nor the overall function of the set.
