Item Details
Here we have a delightful solid silver hinged bangle from the late 1950's. Made by the renowned silversmiths Smith & Pepper it has one half engraved with absolutely wonderful ornate panels, whilst the inner surfaces and the other half remains plain.
Unusually (and demonstrating Smith & Pepper's pride in their work) this bangle was sent to Chester for assay, something designed to lift above a lot of other similar wares that were assayed locally in Birmingham.
For more than 80 years, Smith & Pepper produced jewellery from their workshop which now serves as the Museum of Birmingham's Jewellery quarter. Here you will find things left as they were on Smith & Pepper's last working day.
