Item Details
This unusual silver cream ladle or medicine spoon was created and assayed in Sheffield in 1916. Whether a medicine spoon or cream ladle (whichever ever is correct or not), it features a distinctive offset design that allows for easy serving.
It is made of solid silver, which is typical for medical devices of the early 20th century due to its antimicrobial properties.
Although not authorative, is it just coincidence that the bowl also approximates a good "tablespoon dose".
We'll leave that hanging and let you debate that one!
